B R E A K I N G T H E G L A S S [ C E I L I N G ]I am a recent transplant from Detroit, MI to the San Francisco Bay Area. With a background in graphic design, I found mosaic work to be a great creative break from the computer.
I originally started working in glass when I took a fusing class on a whim. Breaking glass became very cathartic and a great way to get out from behind the computer. I began with flowers and animals but wanted to expand my portfolio. I find anatomy and the human body fascinating. I also believe it’s one of the most challenging of subject matters. As an artist, I tend to get too literal and intricate, so I like working in glass because it prevents me from being too detail-oriented and consequently over-thinking and over-working my pieces. My goal is to take the hard, sharp glass edges and produce something organic, fluid and soft.” |
